Superglue on carpet
« on: October 16, 2007, 03:44:10 pm »
Hi all

Had a job today, cleaned carpets and came up fine except for a great dollup of superglue the size of my fist! Can anything get this off?

Cheers

John

fellas, had the same problem about a month ago, it was on a nylon carpet, in some areas it had melted it, tried very carefully cutting it out, took ages, tried glue freezer- no good, gel spot- no good, & a few other products, i even carefully shaved it were it left a sheen. the whole job took about 1 1/2hrs made abit of an impact, but i could'nt get it all out, it was across a ft squ. i do believe that same hardware stores do sell a product designed to deal with superglue, but i'd test it first on a like for like 1st. freshi

Hi Guys

These types of product are chemically reactive when applied , so that they cross link to form irreversible chemical bonds.

They are therefore designed to be both chemically and heat resistant so you will not remove them with solvents, HWE etc

Other similar products are epoxies like araldite, polyesters such as those used in fibreglass and acrylics like superglue used in modelling.

Cheers
