The best jet in the world by far
« on: October 08, 2007, 01:10:40 pm »
Last week I ordered this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130126212792&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=003

It arrived over the weekend and I fitted the trigger which was what I wanted, I was left with a spray jet which I thought I would test out.

I fitted it to the middle of my brush head with some plastic ties.

Today I used it for the first time and wow what power I have.

The water comes out with so much power that you see the dirt fly off the glass. it also makes if faster to clean larger panes of glass.

So your water will last approx 5 minutes. ???

I can turn mine up so it blasts 15ft, but it won't even see me through the morning.
Also, the more flood you make, the more chance of moaning customers.

The trigger's helpful though.

I thought that it would use more water but its doesn't, it seems to use the same amount as you normally do but the water that leaves the jet comes out with more greater force.

I think that it will have the reverse effect on customers because you not only see it coming out more forcefully but you also hear it as well.

It is just like the car washing lances that you use at the garage.

I did a very large nursing home today and I checked every window after they had dried and they was no spotting or problem on any one.

The trigger is very useful, so if you do order one, the jet comes with it, just attach it to your pole and you will see, you need to disconnect your other jets first.

rog,
The amount of water you use has nothing to do with the power of the water coming out of the jet. That depends on the power of the pump and the size of the aperture on the jet nozzle.
William...take some pics and show us it in use....

Varistream set to 2.5 - old jets - not very powerfull
Varistream set to 2.5 - new jets - powerfull

If the varsistream is still set to 2.5 then it is sending the water out at the same flow rate with both jets. What is different is the way the jets use the water, a smaller hole will cause it to become more pressured etc. The reason why a larger jet uses more water is because it is less effective and the user has to spend more time cleaning. I hope I am righ, if I am not, then some more experienced person will be sure to tell me!!!! luke

Bigger jets would be more effective on car showroom type window`s,more water is needed especially on first cleans.

What I did notice was that the pressure in the pole hose had increased by at least 5 times, the reason I say this is on my pole hose I have a hose connector so I can disconnect the brush head and replace with another one when I want, without the need to change the whole hose.

With the old jets, the water passed though with no problem, with this jet though the hose came away from the connector.

I will try and jet some photos or video.

Its cos its only one jet dum dum.

Its just a cleantech fan jet. Buy some and just use one. No need for the trigger bit.

If you just used a single pencil jet it would fire out too. Think about it.

Its not a cleantech fan jet, I have got loads, for a start its made out of brass and second its about 600% larger and heavier.

because theres is less space for the water to leave, it backs up and causes the pipe to become stiff, Luke

I`ve got the same fan jet fitted on top of an Unger clamp,i use it so i can clamp sponges, light abrasive pads etc for stubbon cleans, the only problem i found was my pump would pulse if varistream was set high  ;)

Have you got a pic or diagram of the brush head conversion William?

I bought 2 of these triggers, so have 2 spare jets myself, and will try your method if it is something that will work all the time, or was this just an experiment you have done?

What I did was cut the black tube in half and fixed the trigger at the base of my pole with some plastic ties.

This left the jet with a little bit of tube, this I placed on the top of the brush head in the middle and attached using a couple of plastic ties, to hold in place.

I then joined the black tube to my pole hose with a male to male connetor, the black tube and my pole hose seem to be the same size.

You then just turn the pump on and the water comes out at a vastly increased pressure, with my other jets the fan spray was about 10'' with this jet its something like 30''.

When the water hits the glass, it blasts quite a lot of the debris of the glass, you just scrub with the brush head, to break the dirt down further and with the power of the water now coming from the jet shifts the dirt off faster and easiler.

You do get a mist effect as well from the jet which settles onto the glass, this I was worrried about incase of spotting, but I never had any on the windows that I did today and there was 175 of them.

I think as long as the water is pure and no dirt run downs from the brickwork you should be ok.

I have a lot of windows that don't completely shut and they are fine with the pencil jets but I was worried that I would be forcing water throught to the inside with the spray. I gather from your use of it so far though you haven't experienced any probs like this.

I fitted two of these triggers to my poles and the biggest thing I noticed was the drop in the amount of water I was using. Doing tops only on two and three bedroom houses, 125 ltres lasts me from 8.30am to 3pm with no break. They make me feel that I'm in total control of my water flow. I can see though that I'm going to have to experiment with the spray jet.

Is the spray jet better on hydrophobic glass that the pencils?

we thought about fitting one of those triggers a while ago, the problem is that i dont always have my hands in one place on the pole, what i mean is i feed the pole through my hands sometimes to do say, a slightly lower window than the one ive just done, if i understand this correctly you would have to have your hand on the trigger all the time

could you not just walk back a little instead of lowering pole?

If you can make the triggers work for you you may also find that impresses your customers. It certainly has with some of mine. They are not blind to the fact that we are using more water than trad cleaning but a few have made some very positive comments on the fact that I'm not wasting any more than I need to.
