advice on pricing a flat clean
« on: October 03, 2007, 05:03:06 pm »
Hi,

We are mainly carpet cleaners but lately the local council have roped us into spring cleaning houses and flats before we clean the carpets for them. Now today they've shown us the worst flat ever. It doesn't have carpets instead it has wall to wall cat faeces! Loads of people have refused to clean it. They have had a big quote off someone but won't tell me in case it puts ideas in my head!!! It's a really, really filthy one bedroom council flat. Any ideas? Would appreciate it if any of you could help.

Hi

For what you are describing I would go in at either £50 p/h or price up for the job.

Don't forget that faeces carries germs.

Suit & boot, or sub it out.

this reminds me of a question i wanted to ask. Have you (or anyone) ever tried to subcontract a job (maybe like this one etc) and then found put the person you offered it too had already been in to quote for it directly?

Thank you all for your answers. The council have rang me today and asked me about it. I told them the job is so vile it would take at least £500 to get me over the threshold. They said okay. So that's how it stands, I get at least £500, more if it's even worse than we thought. I wonder what the other quote was, it must have been lots more for them to agree my price so readily. And you are right Martin I'll def need suits, shoes covers and masks.

I hope I've not been taken for a mug and will regret this.

Thanks everyone.

HI

It may well be extra.

You may need skip hire and the faeces may have to go to a bio disposal site, please check wwith your local authority if that is the case and of course where it is.

You will have to be licensed to carry waste and bio waste. Or you will have to use a company that is, check on pricing.

Best of luck
