'Oxy' stain removers
« on: November 03, 2004, 08:17:54 am »
Is it just me or is there more shop bought stain removers containing oxygen bleaching agents. 3 time last week and yesturday I've cleaned carpets with lots of 'clean' spots where the stain remover ( whoms names usually contains OXY) has lightly bleached the carpet.

the problem with cleaning these carpets is when you've finished the 'clean'spots make the rest of the carpet still look dirty.

or is the customer using the 'more is better' formula and using too much spotter

They don't read the labels ::)

Most if not all of these oxy type products will say some where on them that you should not use them on wool carpets because of the bleaching and also to pre-test anything else they might intend to use them on.

We see it all the time.
One brown carpet that we cleaned last week had a large permanent pink patch where the customer had used 1001 and then the offending oxy wotsit to remove a cup of freshly spilt tea.

They don't read the lables and many people will go straight in with a chemical (and plenty of it) before blotting or using plain water.
