Easy come easy go

A window cleaner I know started 23yrs ago, after 12years his turnover was over £120000 per year.

Since then the men that worked for him started up there own window cleaning business, and took some of his work. His sons helped him as he lost interest in his business the round slowly fell away and 3 months ago they stopped window cleaning all together.

What a shame, this was all extremely high paying work and they could have sold it.

I picked up 6 new customers today all in the same road, and after a bit of chin wagging with them, I discovered there previous w/c had been going to them for years, he converted them all to wfp, dissapeared of the scene, without a word, after customers phoned and phoned him, they discovered he had marital problems, his round was huge.

Like you say, why not sell the round at least get something in return.

I also found out from one custy, he was beginning to do a bad Job, when she mentioned it to him, he told her, there must have been something wrong with the chemicals in the water he uses. ??? ::)

it makes me sad that these people do all that hard work then it gets ruined....leaflets, talking to customers, sign writting, cleaning, getting wfp equipment etc etc

I am picking up after a similar situatuion at the moment. I was lucky enough to hit on an area where the old window cleaner just disappeared last may and never came back. I am picking up about 8 new customers every evening I go leafletting.

i picked 8 new jobs yesterday all bunched together,£70 worth,window cleaner packed up in april and the customers have been looking for a new cleaner since,they say to me i have not seen you before,i told them i have been cleaning in this street for 3 years
