« on: September 28, 2007, 01:01:56 pm »
STREAKS; IS THIS CUSTOMER CODE FOR I DON'T LIKE WFP.

every time so far i've been up ladder to check out i have either found no trace or dirty interior windows.

Yesterday a customer mentioned everytime you do the windows it leaves streaks or i see water marks.

He's wooden windows are a right state i rubbed my fingers along what paint work there was and my fingers were white (chalking) with paint. i suggested there was much i could do unless i did with ladders (which i'm not going to).

The downstairs windows that i do wfp have always looke o.k.

Does anyone out there find you question what your doing or am I the only paranoid w/c out there?

wfp 1 yr now and loving it (shame about the customers)

I still find i get some spots on windows do my parents windows wooden; and some upvc and point out the odd mark to parents; my mum tells me i'm to fussy own worst critic.
any thouhgts
cheers lee

Confidence, that is the key. You are the boss, you know about window cleaning, not them. You tell them its a myth that you cant clean in the rain, make them look silly, tell them that all your other customers love the fact that you'r service is all year round, DO NOT BACK DOWN. Pre warn customers with bad frames that the finish might not be much good. Yesterday I refused a job and told the man I would only clean the windows if they were re painted. STAND YOUR GROUND and DO NOT be embaressed about charging a high price.

How to close a deal:

give all your selling points ( frames, insured, safety cones etc etc )
number of windows, the customer will be suprised!
then state your price and close your mouth, let them say the next word.

Trust me this will work, Luke

I was cleaning a house in the rain earlier this afternoon (wfp).

The next door neighbour came out to her car and said to me "you're not cleaning windows in the rain are you"? (stupid question ::))...

I said "yes, with pure water it makes no difference, the windows will still come up clean"... She then asked for a quote for inside and out of her windows, she accepted my quote (£25 outside, £35 inside) and I'm doing her windows next week, and she's added on to my 8 weekly round!

You master conman!
Nice work. ;D

Rain contaminates your pure water and leaves spots, I've had it happen loads of times. ;D

Sometimes the rain can percolate through the brickwork and leave marks. To be fair though, this could happen 5 minutes after you leave.

Cleaning in the rain is great for WFP. The rain is like a prewash. Loosens all the dirt off.  ;D

Squeaks, the rain is probably running off the top frame.

Sometimes they actually mean the WATER on the windows before it dries.

It took me a while to work it out. I confronted one of these 'streakers', had a look inside and they were still wet. I said 'where are the streaks?' She said 'look! the're all over.' DUH.

Just say ' yes, but the streaks dry clear'. They accept that.

I clean in the rain and never had a problem. In fact when customers occasionally confront me about it I explain that I rinse off with the pure water therefore not leaving any streaks. If they are still a bit unsure I tell them to give me a call tomorrow if you are not 100% satisfied. So far Ive never been called back!
