hi all, been pressure washing for years but  does anyone think there are any better types of kiln dried sand out there??  i use cheap stuff £3 a bag. the weeds seem to grow in it in no time after  it has been brushed into the blockpaving. i know you can put sodium chlorate downn after cleaning before you put the sand in but grass sedds can blow into the sand after it has been put in and start growing in weeks.   some commercial properties seem to have some sort of sand in the joints with no stuff growing in it. its not sealed either. maybe they put a dry mix of sand and cement in instead??   all i know is the cheap kiln dried sand is crap really.  any ideas?? :

I use Tarmac brand from the Build Centre, about £3.50 per bag= 25kgs.
Re the commercial site you are talking about if it's block paved then it really shouldn't be cemented in place, as block is termed as "flexible paving", but saying that there are products/sand out there that claim to be weed free etc, I am trying one next week, I'll let you know how it goes.

was talking to a client this week who said when he did his block drive himself he mixed weedkiller in with the sand. he couldn't remember what it was called and judging by the state of the drive it didn't work. it does however seem like a good idea in principal.

I thought the problems were mainly if to much time was left between the clean and re-sanding and the grass gets cut etc.

and with the summer weve had.........................

i use b and q kiln dried sand, interested to know what else is available with weed preventing qualities.
