Fao The Big Boyz.......
« on: November 30, 2008, 07:46:40 pm »
Up on the coasts of Alaska, a native fisherman was approached by a regional development officer & was asked to take part in a business survey. On ascertaining that the fisherman only worked part time, he asked him what he did with the rest of his day.
"well, after catching enough to support my family I go home, spend some time with them, help cook a lovely meal & then in the evening catch up with friends, enjoying some music"
The RDO informed him of his degree/knowledge base & put this scenario to him:
"if you worked more hours you could soon buy a better boat, & in time stretch to fleet. You'd get higher returns & could maybe cut out the middle man & open a canning factory. Just think, you could move to Paris or New York & run things from there. "
The fisherman asked how long this would take. The reply was 10 to 15 years.
" what then" asked the fisherman.
The RDO then said " this is where life gets real interesting & you reap the rewards. You can slack back, go fishing, spend quality time with the family.........."

Nice idea but I bet he's happy at the present time. Does a job and has enough time to enjoy his time off with family etc.
Do what this expert says and family problems will begin. He will create an empire that will bring 24 hours of stress. It will end up in an expensive messy divorse and he'll look back and wish for the simple life again.

Moral of the storey: Be careful what you wish for because you might just get it ;)

However when he has an accident or becomes too ill to work his family will suffer unless he is paying handsomely for sickness insurance.

Its a nice idea, but not really based in reality.

But if you are able to have some degree of control over your affairs then that killer, stress, can be managed. Working flat out tends to mean when things go wrong you have to pinch time from somewhere, and it's normally the famy that suffer. And then the health fails. What sort of memories do you want to help keep the "oldtimers" (alzeimers) at bay?

Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons.

Somehow, I don't think poverty is an issue with water fed polers!
