getting foot in the door with a massive housing development
« on: August 23, 2007, 06:03:10 pm »
Got a question for you, There is a housing development of 3000 houses going up 20 miles away from where I live in bedford, they are starting to do the ground work, I need to know how to get the building company to use us, would you give free showhome clean till built? and ask for them to pass details to every house they sell?
Please if anyone knows reply as this is a contract I just would love to undertake.
Thanks in advance.

I often find there not really interested in just having the windows cleaned, if you clean the showhouse then they may pass your details to new tenants/owners.

They will be looking for someone to do all the cleaning, and its these company's you need to get in with.

cheers Jeff1 for that, it is noted and that is a very good point.

Have you ever done this before?

I'm not a fan of builders cleans but there good earners, an old friend of mine has a contract doing all the cleaning for a 600 home development and I do all the W/C, she also has her foot in the door for a new development planned for 2000 home/shop/school development, and I gave her my quote for it.

Ask the selling agents to include your flyer in the info packs you get with all new builds !!

Just a thought.

i wouldnt bother with the free show house clean. i would say to the sales person that you will look after them for every lead you get via them.  get them on side and they will tell you when every new person moves in.
i know the ariel boys do that round here.

When I first started there was a new housing develpment being built near me, I just drove around it reguarly and everytime somebody moved in I delivered a flyer and then knocked on their door a few days later, I now clean 200 houses out of a total of 300 built.  :)

I have 320 customers altogether Luke, the 200 houses on the estate takes me about 6 days. The rest of my round consists of much larger houses and a few commercial jobs which are mainly care homes.  :)

luke, just ring the building contracttors, explain what site it is and ask who the cleaning contractors are. Beware though, some site agentswill keep their cleaners with yhem if they can.

Better still, just go on site, find the site manager and ask him/her. Usually they already have these matters sorted before they start building, but it doesn't hurt to get your name known. Find out if they offer a wc service to new owners moving in, some do for the first couple of months or so, this could be a good way in, or just be on the ball and when you see places being occupied get marketing! ;)

Trying talking to the watchman, he will be onsite every night. maybe ask him when people are moving in to put your card through and give him something for every one he helps you get. Still go to this site as often as you can as you cant depend on other people.

I used to do a couple of show houses for Fairclough Homes , I put one of my magnetic fridge magnets on the kitchen fridge of each of the show houses. You would be suprised how many calls you get from people who saw your magnet while looking around the show house.

I did not do them for long as they were bad payers
