Leather restoration
« on: August 23, 2007, 02:56:27 pm »
We are holding a one day Pigment recolouring course using the BRIT restoration system on Saturday Sept 1st if any one is interested in attending.  Places are strictly limited and the cost is only £95.00 + VAT including lunch and refreshments.

The BRIT system is the latest recolouring system on the market. It has great adhesion and uses very little product to create colour changes or restoration.  The workshop is hands on and will be held in our workshop at Langdale House in Harrogate.

If anyone is interested please let me know on 01423 881027.

It is a system used by professionals for restoring colour to pigment leather both for minor scuffs and scratches and for full restoration or re-colouring.

The difference with this system is the preparation process and the fact that it is so easy to use along with giving the best results.  It has a very high colour content which means that you need very little product to effect a colour change, unlike most current products which need several coats to cover over.  You also need no special preparation products to create adhesion which most of the current products do.

Many technicians and networks are now wanting to use BRIT having suffered from finish failure when using other products.

The product has been used by technicians on the continent for over 20 years, and constant research and development has been done during this time to produce the most sophisticated restoration product there is.

Hope this helps

So is it a special dye that adheres to the leather easily and coates well? is it water based (as I don't like or use spirit based products anymore) I suppose you will still have to mix various different colours to match the original colour you want to match?

I know there's alot of the question but I want to make sure it's worth cancelling my jobs as I am booked up on that day.

It is a pigment not a dye (dyes are used on anilines - we may be able to cover this as well)  It is water based and yes you do have to mix colours but there are premixed colours to use.  It is always a good thing to learn about colour mixing as it really helps to understand the process to help when colours need adjusting (as they generally do).

You can always have colours mixed for you to whatever you require (all pantone colour references can be supplied.

Spending  a day in the workshop on a training session with Andy Alcock will never be wasted money.  Many of our technicians come back every year to find out new techniques and products and are always learning new things.
