Pole hose
« on: July 03, 2007, 09:13:13 pm »
I have just changed my pole hose. What a difference.
The Algarde silicone hose is brilliant.

It is totally flexible. Just fold it and the flow is stopped. It can handle the water pressure and doesn't kink. In spite of being only 6mm outside diameter, there is no loss of flow. Brilliant, I love it. Big thanks to Jeff Brimble on the DIY site. Dai

Off topic, but I just wanted to say Dia, your thread first £200 day is now on page three. 190 posts on it, and 2763 views. Wow!
That has to be a record.

Is that seriously all it costs?

Do you find your self much quicker with the fishing pole?

That tubing looks pretty cheap. What kind of pressure can it handle - is it suitable from micro hosereel to flow valve? I've been using the clear tubing from Gardiners 6mm inside diameter 9mm outside diameter and even that wears fairly quickly and will balloon with the pressure sometimes.

I'm using a 60 psi pump with the pressure switch disabled. I have 10 metres from my micro bore hose reel up to the brush. No problem up to now, I think you can buy 10 metres for about £4, won't cost a fortune to try it.
Jeff Brimble has been using it for a while and still does. I think it's the dogs, no need for a control tap, just pinch it or fold it and the flow stops. Dai

DAVEW, I'm not advocating that you use this on your hose reel. It's just an excellent hose for going up your pole to the brush.
Anyone that has the hose going up the outside of the pole would appreciate it even more. It allows you to turn off the flow by just folding the hose or even pinching it.
I use one of these clamps. http://www.altecweb.com/home.asp?cat=Subcategory18700

The hose just runs through it and you turn off the flow by turning the wheel.
You can fix one of these clamps to your pole, so your flow stopper is always in the same place, no matter what height your working at. You can never do this with an ordinary cut off valve, unless you have hoops of loose hose when your working at a lower height. Dai

Ha thanks Dai I had no intention of loading a hosereel with it :) I didn't realise you had a valve at all and thought you were just pinching or folding.
