hi , i managed to get rid of a flea infestation in a carpet with normal hwe..it was xmas eve and the guy was desperate..it was too late to get any chems designed for this sort of thing so i hwe twice. first  pre sprayed and rinsed with plain water, then rinsed again with fabric and fibre rinse too make sure.  I couldnt see any fleas on leaving and rang him after xmas and all was fine.  im not sure about upholstery though.. maybe the fleas go right into the cushions?

matt.
this is what you need

Craftex along with many other suppliers do a sachet of Permethrin , approx 6 or 7 quid which will cover most jobs.

A powder diluted in a sprayer and applied after cleaning the carpets. It has Permethrin in it which kills the fleas and larvae.

I have an " environmental clean " which includes deinfestation of fleas and had considered the Craftex product, as I know about permethrin.

First time I've ever got involved in this work.

I've been trying to back out of the cleaning business and out of the blue, I get inundated with requests from Social Services for house cleans. Strange old world

Hi Guys

Pemethryn is the only product I have found which kills fleas effectively.

There are two problems, firstly the fleas which need to be killed and secondly the eggs which will hatch at a later date leading to a reinfestation.

The Pemethryn is a powder which remains in the carpet , best to advise the custy not to vac for a few days, so the Pemethryn is still present to kill the new fleas thus breaking the cycle of reproduction.

Cheers

Doug

You say it stays in the carpet.............as a powder..................I understood it was diluted and sprayed. Is this not so ?

Hi Rob

It is mixed with water but is effectively a fine suspension which is sprayable.

If fleas are deep inside the sofa I'm not sure that cleaning will get rid of them all.

I have seen these smoke bomb things that you place on a metal tray and set light to. You then evacuate the room until the smoke clears...
