chewing gum
« on: September 27, 2004, 04:55:39 pm »
I have to remove many pieces of chewing gum from carpet tile on entrance to shopping centre. (Nightmare job but priced accordingly). I was unable to lift any of tiles to see whether bitumen in backing. They are nearly 15 years old. I planned to use steam and citrus gel, then extract. Any other suggestions welcome.

Solutions Gum Remover is great and makes light work of old stamped in wads, just recently done hundreds myself.
This may not be so good if they are bitumen backed as it is a liquid solvent.

Paul,
Im sure Nick will tell us for sure, but I dont believe the Solutions chewing gum remover is a solvent and is safe on bitumen backed tiles. Nick, over to you.
