Van mount RO
« on: June 05, 2007, 04:44:20 pm »
Hi

Im trading up from my Combo van to a Transit and want to put a 650litre tank in with an RO system.

I was looking at a Pure Freedom 300gpd with a resin vessel will this be ok in the van?

Cheers

With a van mounted R/O you only have the time your van is parked up to produce pure water.

A 300 gal per day R/O will produce 300 US gals per 24hrs. So you may need something a bit bigger R/O or produce your water into a  holding tank and then pump to van.

well say if you had like a 1000 litre tank, you could fill it up at weekend, and youd still have loads left at end of day, and you could top it up when you get back?

i know i can produce 200 litres on my 200gpd system over night, so 24 hours

if takinatrip had a 1000 litres, uses 300 in a day and then topped it up over night?

maybe the next day he might only have 900, then 800, 700, 600 and then 500 maybe on the last day of the week, but over a you dont need mroe than 300 a day do ya....? then just fill up to 1000 at weekend

I some times use 500l a day, my 40x40 R/o will produce about 300ltrs an hour.

But you can try it may well work, but in the heat of summer I use a lot more water when rinsing.

I have an I*n*c* van mount with a 40 inch RO.

I B*gg*r*d up my membrane so I bought a Pure Freedom 300 GPD RO and produce into a 1000 ltr IBC and just transfer the water over using a sub pump. My resin cost is about a quarter of what it used to be. I use around 400 ltrs a day and always have plenty of water to spare. I just fill the IBC up at the weekend and top up a couple of nights during the week.

I reckon it would be fine to use in the van if you are on good water pressure. You would need to plug in straight away at the end of the working day and leave it running all night. A cut off float valve would be essential in the tank as well.

thanks for the replies...  :)

At present I have a 100gpd RO in the garage with a couple of 200 litre barrells which I transfer to my van via a pump.
 ::)
So my plan is to set everything up in the van and as you say plug in while parked up over night and fill up the tank with ofcourse a cut of valve in the tank. ;D
