How many people will really have their windows replaced at around 20-30 grand????? none work it out if you charge £20 a month thats £240 per year to clean their windows thats 80 plus years of cleaning their windows so its cheaper for you to clean them than them changing them.

I clean a building that has self cleaning glass........180 feet long x 47 feet height sheet glass all self cleaning at a cost of 200,000 and im cleaning it..

Hmm.....Having been in the UPVC trade for a number of years (selling to trade), one of the guys I employed to cover South Wales is now one of the Reps covering the area selling this glass.

I do not know if it works, though I do know that they originally manufactured the glass with a sticker logo on it.    The glass ate the sticker....and they now dont make them with stickers on.   Would be interesting to see.

I need new glass panels, I might contact him & be a guinea pig for you all.

The building i clean that has "self cleaninf glass" is a multi million pound super car manufacturer i have been cleaning thier office window for 3 years and the stuff is absolutley covered in grime when i get there.

Oh and i thought that self cleaning glass works with rain water hitting the glass and breaking up the soil????well up untill now weve had hardlly next to no ain for months so what happens if there is no rain?? not self cleaning

approx 20%, yes 20% of our customers have self cleaning glass, also have a few that have been treated with everclean - its the con of the decade, it needs the right conditions to work and even then only very light dust will be removed.

A waste of money, and I'm not being biased about it.  I would love someone from Pilkington to come on here and challenge me about it, I could take hundreds of photo's of customers windows that are filthy, if anything the film on the window actually grips the dirt.

Its a catch 22 for the window cleaner as we know it doesnt work but if we tell our customers they think we are afraid that it will work, they have been installing it here for a long time if anything its harder to clean and is damn near impossible inthe sun, It seems like it is better suited to wfp but i dont use one so dont know for sure

It isnt self cleaning it needs rain or to be hosed down. It is a non stick surface so it dosent need elbow grease to move dirt.

I've just picked up a domestic with self cleaning glass. They were more concerned that I clean the frames and sills.

When I had a look at the site (pilkington) it said it used sunlight to break down algea, so I assumed this was more a cons roof product.

Due to being asked more than once to clean the stuff I have emailed Pilkington on five occasions and asked them to supply the proof that their self cleaning glass works. Never did get a reply from them. Seems that nobody from the company wants to actually stick up for the product. My conclusion therefore is: Self Cleaning Glass - MY AR$E!!!
