Access issues with wfp
« on: May 22, 2007, 09:01:14 am »
I started off traditional window cleaning and acess wasn't a problem with ladders.

But since switching to wfp I have found that I have a lot of problems accessing some of my clients houses. Some of them are on main and very busy streets and its not really possible to park up the van outside these jobs.

And on other houses there is just so much s**t lying around in the garden I'm forever going back and freeing up the hose which is wrapped around a plant pot or kids bike! >:(

What would you do with these jobs? Ditch them and look for better work?

I dread doing them every month and sometimes find myself driving past and missing them out, which I know is bad practice.

Some people say that work is work. Fair enough, but I really dread doing these ones. Any suggestions???

matthew buy an 8 ltr pressure sprayer, get a spare tyre valve from any tyre fitter,
you need to drill a hole and fit the valve in the container, this system is more powerful
than any manual backpack sprayer, and you can go anywhere with this

where to buy http://www.transtools.co.uk/store/prod_1386/gardening-and-outdoors/watering/8-litre-pressure-sprayer.html
then buy this digital compressor, it turns of automaticly at the presure you set it to
so no hand pumping is done, you can use your car cig plug to power it, or simply connect to a battery,

this is one i did 5 years ago

I'm replacing the customers I dont want with work that should be more WFP freindly.

Jouk,

Thanks for your reply. How exactly does that work. Can I attach a pole to the container and work at a height of 20ft+???

Matthew

LWC, you have to do what a mans got to do! (I think :-[) and drop the awkward ones and look for more wfp friendly work. We have invested a lot of money and time into wfp and we need to look at ways to make it pay. And if that means dropping the awkward ones, then so be it.

WFP is a dream with the right houses, but it`s a nightmare with the wrong type.I would go for new bigger house type work that`s where you`ll earn the money with the pole, get a new one drop an old one stick to that method you wont go far wrong,i wouldn`t drop all your work straight away wait until you`ve replaced about half of it.I think wcs that couldn`t get on with WFP are the ones that have the type of work that simply dosen`t suit it,the best type of work on the domestic side has got to be detatched,90% of my work is detached and it`s so much easier.

yes matthew, you can reach heights of 20ft and higher,  just attach your hose as normal with the connectors, and flow control, lewis doubtfire has  already built his, and the reports coming back from him are very possitive.
heres the link and pictures of lewis set up are at the  training academy

Mathew,

Get a Backpack ;) You can go ANYWHERE with a Backpack.

Get a Shurflow.  Run it on 2nd setting and a tank full (18ltrs) will last you 2 semi's or about 20 average sized windows.

I use one ALL the time.  You may not, but it sounds like you may ;)

I'll drop you an E-Mail with how I got mine set up, so as NOT to lift it up ;)

:)   Well I could attach a 100m microbore hose to a trolley.  If there was no access and somebody wanted me to walk more than that 100m with a backpack full of water I would either turn the job down or do that part of the job with a squeegee.

I've read that a 100 psi pump is better for microbore but my trolley has 60 psi and copes with the flow control fully open.  I've only used it one floor above ground though.
I know that Omnipole's backpack has an 80 psi pump so presumably that would cope.  I believe the shurflo has 40 psi pump so may not be suitable.
Probably need to speak to the suppliers.
