Hi,

You really need to find out what kind of fabric it is before I can try and suggest any kind of solution.

It sounds like a dreaded flatweave cotton to me :-\ if the grease didnt lift with what you tried.  Maybe enzymes would help, but is there any way you could describe the fabric better (or better still do a fibre test on it)

I used HM Natural Orange on a Cotton Flat weave today, not been cleaned since it was bought 10 years ago and had rather bad grease marks on the headrests and arm, after agitation and dwell and a really slow pass with the Drimaster came up great, did get machine rather hot though.  Becuase the grease isnt water soluble you need to make it so before it will come out, but before you can choose an approprite solution you really need to idetify the fabric unless you use something neutral like Natural Orange.

as well as identifying the fabric I think you should give more thought to the type of stain you are dealing with. this chair came out of a restaurant not a garage canteen

the 'oil & grease' you are dealing with are probably organic ,solvall & citrus Gel are used to remove mineral based oil & grease (eg; engine oil, lithium grease)

if these came out of a restaurant then I'd use a different type of prespray & spotting agent.

IMPORTANT

this answer is based on my limited knowledge of spotting techniques, if anyone more knowledgeable than me would like to correct my answer please do so ;) ;)

What Mike has said is dead right ;)
For food stains you need to look at enzymes to digest the food and solvent spotters to break down the grease.
