free vouchers
« on: May 17, 2007, 11:25:16 pm »
Hi all,

was just wondering if it is ethical to give a thankyou voucher to people who pass me work through various big businesses.

I particularly get passed a lot of work from the local council and various housing associations and would like to give the individuals a voucher for free carpet cleaning, but i got to thinking this might look like a bit of bribery :o

The fact is i have quite good working relationships with these people and would like to just express my appreciation (and of course keep the work coming ;D)

They pass me many thousands of pounds of work and feel it would be appropiate to give them something in return.

does anyone do anything similar or should i approach it a different way?

regards

steve

Steve

Just send them a voucher for free carpet cleaning as a thank you with a letter, their company will have a policy in place whether they can except it or not.

Its just a thank you to the people who get you the work.

Cheers

Ice creams on a hot day when your passing, or a tin of roses at christmas, we even have one customer who we take a cake into the office every time we do a big job for them, yes it's bribery, but nice bribery! and low cost too!

I once worked in IT sales and we were given incentives from the manufacturers for puching thier product over another, if we were given say £100 in high street vouchers we would have to pay tax on it come payday and if we recieved a prize im sure there was a policy in place to keep the tax man happy, if you know these people and have a good relantionship why do just tell them that you will do them a freeby then there is nothing on paper for the tax man to trace? Just an idea.

 probably a good idea !  -

The main problem is that a lot of the mail gets opened before it gets to the right people, so they may not even get the vouchers and if they do it may go against them as really they should be getting different quotes alot of the time or putting the contract out for tender every so often.

i just thought using the vouchers was a good way of keeping track of who's getting a freebie, and only sending out a few every now and then!

otherwise you could get everyone ask you at the same time! - and doing lots of work for nowt  :o
