Guys I am under the impression that public liability covers accidents etc but what about the window you are working on.I believe this is called treatment risk, has anyone taken this insurance out, and could you enlighten us to the cover and cost of this additional insurance

thanks

I've never taken this insurance out but I can give you an approximate (going by memory)  example of a quote I was given 2 or 3 years ago.
At the time my PL insurance was about £100 per year with £100 excess which didn't cover the window worked on.  I was offered a policy (might have been AXA insurance) for about £250 with about a £250 excess which did cover the window worked on.  Cover levels were 2 million pounds in both cases.
Of course I can't recall EXACT figures but it was about the above.
I decided to go for the cheaper quote as I felt that even if I did cause damage to a window I was working on, I would have to be pretty unlucky for the size of the claim to exceed the excess anyway.  It's possible that such cover is only worth bothering with if you clean a lot of very expensive windows.
