Paul,

If the potential customer has requested the contact, I see no reason not to ring on a Sunday.

It is the best day to find some of my customers at home but I always start with an appology for ringing on that day.

Sunday is not what it used to be ! The expression 'Sunday driver' has become an anachronism now that the road are so busy with cars heading for supermarkets and out-of-town shopping centres.

When I was a lad............................

Does that mean you actually use one of those old fashioned Ansa Phone thingy's?. These can loose you so many enquiries.  I divert my calls to my mobile so that I can speak personally to every caller. If I'm not available, my voicemail message is an apology for not answering as I may be driving. People respect that.

Verbally, I let my customers know they can phone me upto 10pm. In my NCCA Corporate Y/P ad I advertise my phone number with the word "anytime" after it. That way I can have an edge when people are researching the market and don't feel guilty for calling out of office hours. And yes, I make calls on a Sunday too. But not before 11.00am, between 12.00 and 2.00 or after 5.00pm.

Safe and happy calling:)

Ken,

My 'Talking remote control' lives in the cab and the number is known to very few people.

What I want to know is where you keep your phone whilst working, wearing nothing but a pair of Marigolds?

Do you tuck it in the cuff of one glove or do you put it........ NO! I won't even think about that option  :o  ;D

Safe and blush-free cleaning,

John.

No Paul

There's a little button on the side of my phone. When I press it, I can record the prospects name and number. I then wring ;)  them back at a more suitable time.

My diary always stays on the office desk. I ring all customers back later. The customer I am with may not like me talking to others in "her time" so I find it to be the best compromise for me.

Safe and happy dialing:)

Ken,

I was thinking more along the lines of:

"Where do you park your bicycle on a nudist beach"  ;D

Sorry Marigold ....but I still use the answerphone...( the old dog/new tricks syndrome).

I don't encourage customers to call on my mobile as the constant interuption whilst working can be irritating for both me and the customer I am with at the time.

I certainly don't call customers on Sundays ..that's strictly 'my' quality time!

Gosh ... all that sounds as though I don't want people to call me  :-[

I do find that people do respect the fact that you don't call on a Sunday even in today's society where nothing is seems to be sacred anymore

Hey DB

YOU ARE A LIAR ;)

There, I've said it.

OK, I'm not a customer of yours, but a colleague, but it could be argued that I'm a customer of the NCCA (I pay  my fees) and you are a director of the NCCA and you've phoned me on a Sunday more than once.

But just a minute, you stated that Sunday was strictly your quality time, and you phoned me on a Sunday. So you value you me highly enough to include me in your quality time. Ahhh, you're so sweet young Derek.

See you at Carpex, when I'll allow you to buy me and my beloved a nice cup of tea.

Safe and happy qualy tea time:)

Hi Guys,

I've had a mad woman phoning me 3 times today to tell me I'm too expensive!

When I said 'I've got to go because I'm cooking dinner 'she replied, ' that was not her problem'.

Cheers,

Doug

Doug,
Remind her of the cost of multiple phone calls, if she is that concerned about costs ;)...............keep her talking so you can rub the point in ::)

Marigold

Business is business and chatting to you on a Sunday doesn't fall into that catagory.

Always a pleasure Kenneth...and I 'will' buy you that cup of tea....I'll start saving right now ;)

My mobile allows divert of calls not on specific lists ie Family, Pests and Business etc. Very handy for swerving calls from price shoppers when busy earning money but allows calls from customers ;D
Never tried the divert from landline to mobile but know many people who do use it. I would never get any work done as my mobile rings often enough as it is........let alone AT MY EXPENSE :P

ps. Derek, Surely you don't need to save for cuppa..... you must still have ration coupons tucked away  ;)
