What Quality of Steam Cleaner do you need for Curtains

Really a question for Derek.

Hope to come to one of your curtain cleaning workshops one day.

But what quality Steam Cleaner do you need to be able to clean Curtains.#

A good one.... ;) 

I don't want to discuss the use of steam on an open forum as it sounds so simple to use BUT you can do an awful lot of damage if you don't know how to use one properly..

I am doing a course in Nottingham early next month when I will be using steam as an aid in stain removal and of course cleaning curtains...I will be down near Brighton shortly afterwards too

I presume its the one on April 4th which is spot and stain removal plus curtains .

Derek do you think the 'curtain method' would work on upholstery? I was thinking of using it on certain fabrics to try and keep the fabric drier, can you see any benefit if done correctly?

Shaun....I have tried using steam on flatweaves....

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TRY IT WITH PILE FABRICS.

This was after an extraction clean...I can't remember the reason why I tried it now it was so long ago.

It may be OK for a 'highlight' clean on very lightly soiled fabrics but doesn't compare with the 'real thing'  ...I much prefer to go the whole hog every time...

Surely the safest option is solvent - for the fabric anyway, not nesessarily your health!
