Furniture Dye
« on: February 18, 2007, 09:38:13 am »
Hi Guy's. I have been asked to go look at a hotel dining room carpet where the carpet has for some reason got damp and the dye from the chair legs has transfered to the carpet, the marks are now about a week old, could anyone suggest a product to use for this .

If you cant clean them out, which normally is very difficult, if the carpet is light in colour maybe some hydrogen peroxide may be enough to bleach them out a bit, you need to try in little amounts and is a bit time consuming.

Impact chemicals "rust remover" if its rust marks from metal studs at the bottom
Impact chemicals "paint oil and grease remover" if its from furniture dye, this works on new marks and becomes less efective the older the mark.

last reort is a re-tuft

Some of the wood dyes are water based and come straight out, but they are the exception.

Take pictures and get a disclaimer signed (dna sample even better)

Good luck

The marks will not come out. This is a job for the hotels insurance provider.
