small pole
« on: February 18, 2007, 09:57:45 am »
Hi

Does anyone know of a pole that reaches up to 3rd storey (Say 24ft) but is small in length ie. 6 x 4ft lengths and light too,  preferably carbon fibre ?

the only one I have been able to find is one from ionic, but it didn't seem that light.

I am about to invest in a system, and using a friends system for a while, one of the most annoying things was to either keep changing poles between high windows and ground floor or to clean the ground floor with a pole 6+ft long.

Surely it would make sense to have one pole that when closed was only about 4-5ft long but had lots of sections to reach say 20-24ft when fully extended?

Many thanks

Paul

The only problem with having a pole that has more sections is that it gets thicker and not necessarily lighter

what you are asking not make sense are you selling for someone or are you supplier
it is far simpiler to work 2 poles one for up one for ground
if your not a supplier then unger allready do such a pole

Sorry, not a supplier, looking into getting a system.

I've help a friend out for a month with his 2 man system and it's helped me to notice things that wind me up before I've invested in one myself and one of them was the poles.

Chris, thanks, I understand what you're saying.

I thought at first that it would be a good idea to get a pole for height and then a really small one for ground floor, but the people I have spoken to say it just gets annoying switching poles all the time.

Tom, I'll check out the unger one. Cheers.

Does nobody else find it annoying keep changing poles ?? . . See, the problem I was getting with the longer pole for downstairs was that it kept getting caught on obstacles, or the gap between the windows and say a wall was too small and made it really awkward.

I have always found it easier to work with 5ft section poles. My best all rounder is a 4x5ft (20ft) universal, does about 95% of domestic work.

Sorry Alex, I've just seen the custom built section on your site. I'll check this out, could be just what I'm looking for.

By the way, heard great things about your company !

If you're looking for a high reach pole but with a really small circumference then you can ask 'Tucker poles' to make a smaller custom pole but still with up to 8 sections. I have a 4ft length 8 section tucker pole that reaches 31 feet is ideal for high or low level work but is cold on the hands in winter unless wearing gloves.

I use and swear by a 4 x 4ft pole, this does all domestic upper and ground floor work, only needing the longer pole for 3rd storey work.

I have just ordered another one of these from gardiners this last week as I have actually worn mine out in about 9 months flat.
