Hi everyone,
Was wondering if any of you come across this same problem. When cleaning some customers carpets which have no visible stains and times where there is visable staining i pass the wand over a patch and it brings a foamy patch to the saface as if something was spilt there ages ago and the customer has tried to clean it up with something problem is i can never get rid of these patches but after a few secs they are no longer visable anyway any ideas what this could be. Sorry i could not be any clearer its probably like i said where the customer has used some foaming detergent based product.

Could well be a cleaning product or even fairy liquid that has seeped into backing and will just keep coming up no matter what you do.

1001 or vanish,

thats why no c/c er would recommend these products, because they bleach/damage carpets.

have you not been c/cing long then? as i see these all the time, and can spot 1001/vanish a mile off.

Had the same thing myself. Make sure you have some antifoaming solution with you for extreme cases.

the carpet is usually fluffy aswell where the custsys been scrubbing

Craig havent been in the game to long mate, but come across it alot and thought it was this if you sprinkled something like de-foaming powder on the patch would this sort it out?

In a word no. It would save your machine but not really solve the problem. If what ever it is has sunk as low as the underlay then you could be there for weeks (water in foam out!). If the carpet is that important then one remedy would be to lift the carpet and clean both sides with just water where the 'accident happened' therefore keeping the underlay dry.

Im with Glyn
Defoamer every time ( depaendant on detergent level).It is only detergent wick back. Rinse it a couple of times with your wand and leave it to settle.

I know what you mean Matt, it's almost like it glows when you pass over it, then gradually sort of fades back down.

I wondered if it might be bleach or optical brighteners in the spotter that's been used, or maybe solvent residue?

You are describing a classic case of Vanish being used, by people who believe the adverts. this company should be taken to task by insurance companies, but , they do give c/c's regular work, when the mysterious patches appear. It also gives you te opportunity to sell a spot and stain remover.
