So I finally got a chance to plumb up my new Vikan brush on my Facelift pole and I have to ask....

Who is actually using these fan jets and are you happy with them?

It seems utterly useless b/c the water is uncontrollable.

well with pencil jets you can aim them at the glass and the arch that is created from them hitting the glass is controlable and you can bring that arch up near the top of the glass.  With the fan jet its just spraying eratically everywhere.

Which is why we always use pencil jets. The control will save you time, they may use slightly more water than fanjets but at least you get the job done quickly and accurately.

I find that they save time on beading glass, but not sheeting glass. Once the window has been cleaned several times any overspray from the fans onto the frame doesnt matter. Saves chasing all those beads!

In the U.S. most people will have their windows cleaned every 6 months so the frames are quite soiled by the time you return to reclean.  Each clean in like a 1st clean unfortunately.

I fit both if I can. The fans are loads quicker than pencils on large windows or as said, windows that bead. Yep, you do have to make sure the frames are cleaned as well.

There is room on the brush for both types of jet. Put the fans outside the pencils and have two y pieces etc. So just leave the fans in U.S bloke, they do come in handy. Drill some holes and put some pencil in as well. The weight is negligable. They do come in handy sometimes although you won't use them as much. (That's about your other post about taking them out).

So do you use 4 jets at one time or do you switch the feed line on different windows?

Just one type or the other. Just a question of switching the pipe around. Once you know which windows need which its easy.

the two sets of jets thing is a great idea, i,ve always used fans but since getting the facelift pole & brush (fitted with pencils) i find the pencils far better. there are however just a very few stuations where the fans would come in handy. i do use a little more water with the pencils but it is worth it for the speed and accuracy as i never clean the top frame, only clean up to the beading, and since using the said pole and brush have had 100% sucsess and far, far quicker than with my old vikans with fans! i have loads of old, old sash windows with flakey paint etc. too.

Here are two spray jets on the left and 2 pencils on the right. By controlling the brush and water you can get the pencils to hit the top 1/4" of bristles so you can cut in right to the top of the frame or to the top of sliding sash windows, accurately.
The fans behave the same as the sprays and if you notice are overspraying above the bristles, which may cause run off later.

I put in a set of pencil jets and went out for a first time clean on a house that had not been done in atleast 4 years.  The Vikan brush worked really well.  I am extremely happy with it thus far.

What size and type of Vikan brush are you using ?
I ask because Vikan also have monofilament bristles on their latest brush.

You got good results on dirty glass using 10" monofilament or flocked bristle ?

I believe its flocked.  The ends are split looking, like hair almost.

Thats it, its what we call flocked. The language issue is good fun, we say round you say route, journeyman etc  Gaz brushes are crinkly monofilament similar to a winspray head- for example.
