It's where the real money is and 9 times out of 10 the window cleaning comes with it.

I have noticed that it's possible to achieve a much higher hourly rate just with window cleaning.  I think the trick with office cleaning is to get multiple contracts,  employ people, and make a margin on each one.  The trouble is that this can get time consuming to manage.  It is possible to do well out of it but there can be a lot more legwork involved than just window cleaning.  Of course, as you say, sometimes it's the only way to get the window cleaning contract if a company only wants to deal with one contractor for all the cleaning.
I was doing a cleaning job on the PAYE some time back and I saw what they were getting for it (someone left the paperwork in the cointact book).  I was surprised how low the price was and that company is meant to be one of the dearer ones.
