I have Shurflo, flojet and Aquatec pumps. They all seem to be much alike in performance and reliability. All seem up to the job. 100PSI should do the job just fine for you.

I,ve bought a few of these at this price. I like to keep a spare pump in my van mounts just in case. 80 quid outlay may seem a bit much but if I have a pump problem I only lose the time it takes to swap one instead of a day or two's work.

I should say that I now have varistreams fitted and havent had a pressure switch go in months.

No, but I've rigged the system up with a flow back to tank if you're not on full pressure. Yes it means the battery gets a lot of use but then I'm not putting the pump under a constant start/stop situation.

Jeff,

the sureflo works great with the varistream.  If you are running one hose from it, get 75psi it is fine.  I have had mine nearly year and half, still going strong, not even a hint of problems yet.
I think the Varistream works best with 75psi sureflo.  I wouldn't be surprised if that is what they road tested it with!

Just a point, the shurflo pressure switches are only warrantied if used with a varistream or some other electronic control device.

Williamson pumps are the cheapest around £62, they are the UK distributor and the likes of Cleantech by theirs off Williamson's.

I will be using it with a varistream after reading all your comments over the past few months, seems to me the most sensible route to take.

Just going to look at williamsons site, but I would have thought that will be £62 without the vat and delivery, but will check it out.

Just a point to correct a posting on this thread.

When a Varistream is fitted to control a pump, the pressure switch on the pump is disconnected and no longer is used. In addition to the other things it does, the Varistream then takes over the function of the pressure switch.

The switch does not need to be warrantable as it is no longer working and therefore will not wear out.

Sorry but your statement is incorrect.

SHURflo Pumps have been sold into the Water Fed Pole market long before the Varistream came onto the scene, and even now far more pumps are sold on their own than with Varistreams.

Neither SHURflo or Williamson Pumps state that they are only for with use with a Varistream. We always recommend the use of a Varistream wherever possible, but it is not manditory.

I apologize then, I was informed by a reliable source (!) that the Shurflo pumps were now only being warranted for window cleaning use if used with some form of electronic control.

In that case it is the same situation as Flojet pumps then. We can use them with just the pressure switch as our control method. Simple.

Hi Alex

Better still the Varistream can be used to control your Flojet pumps. It can be used with any pump so long as they draw less than 10A at maximum pressure.

We have a lot of Flojet users using Varistreams because there is more to the Varistream than just improving the reliability of the switching.
