hi all

hi guys i thinks we ahve all been where pf has been at some point ive been going for two years and about 8 months ago i called a meeting with the wife and said i was going to give up window cleaning since my poles were all wrong or broken , my customers were all really cheap and my business was stagnent .

i had a van engine on my transporter blow up 900 to fix ... then started to look for jobs but most were around 14-15k and even though i was earning less than that a year my hourly rate was  about £20 but i only had enough work for £700 a month.

so my wife decided (as they do)  lol that i should stick at it a nother 6 months if i have done it for 1yr so far then 6 months wont make much difference.

so i canvassed all the new developments and made a £20 minimum charge soon in a month my work went up by £200 in 3 weeks.

then growing and growing since then. by beginning of last month i was up to 1700 on a 5 week cycle..

so mate you need to really stick at take a bit of time off relax then go atit again with a renewed look at your business.

 keep well chin up! ;)
As you are in outer southwest London, you will do a lot better than that as well.  I just did almost that amount between Nov 1 and Nov 17 and I had a bit of time off too.
I've now run out of work for a few days though.

hi all

plus as regards my previous post , a few weeks ago a window cleaner gave me his round of 12 blocks of flats and a office... so i have gotten 3 blocks of flats and the office so far the rest i am waiting on since i doubled and tripled the prices on all of them thats now arned me around 1100 per month and every 2nd month 1350 on top of my usual round. the thing is perserverance... window cleaning has to be the best and most easy going profession..... would never leave unless i really really had to..

40P PER MILE, You have the option opf either claiming he costs of running your van as an expense. Or you can claim 40p per mile, and you stand the expense of petrol, tax. insurance etc.
I use the 40p per mile option. I do an average of 50 miles a day in an  escort van. That means that the first £20 I earn every day is tax exempt.
If I do an average £500 a week, then I only pay tax on £400 less my other none motoring expenses.
It really depends on doing sufficient mileage to make it worth while.

To get back on thread, There is no way I could except some pratt of a boss telling me what to do. Every time a pay rise was mentioned, we were told that if we didn't win this order or that, we could be on the dole.
Your round is yours, as long as you have your health you have a good job for life. If someone tries to take the mick, you dump them. You are in total charge. What other job offers that kind of freedom.
I had nightmares for years about being back working in the machine shop. There is no way I could ever go back to that.
If the job is a pain in the butt at times, so what? It's my pain in my butt, and it's up to me to sort it. Window cleaning has made me unemployable. Dai

 ??? ::)

Why? No really Why?

Its a great job if you have set your round up right.

You have so much more freedom then anyother job mixed with a fantastic earnings potential. If you want to sleep in for another hour, you can, if you want to finnish an hour earlier, you can. Fancy the day off, you can.

When I first started w/c I was into motorbikes, I would find myself working in the summer,A fantastic day ahead weather wise, Far to good to waste working, Home I would go, Ring up one of my girlfreinds and then I was on the open road. Freedom.

If you need more money work harder, Get some new work at a higher price and drop the bad stuff.

Bored. Get some country work, I allways enjoy the country stuff more. I like the variety in going to diffrent areas.

Choices, Choices. Its great.
