Wooops, overquoted a bit, still took it!
« on: November 15, 2006, 03:48:16 pm »
I got a new customer, quoted the house...got to £70, now that's with a BIG conservatory.

Conservatory is £25, so there are about 30 medium upvc windows apart from the conservatory.

Now, I overquoted it, it does have a BIG conservatory, it IS a huge house, but it's not gonna take me 2,5 hour. But while I was quoting, I was counting the windows, and it began adding up and adding up, and I was like WHOA at the end.  :o

I said to her, just to make sure, I would like to have one more look around to house to give you the most accurate price (bla bla talk LOL)

And I was again WHOAAA £70?!! Hm, thought about it, yes it is right! same amount as a min ago.......so told the lady, she went in, asked her husband if it was allright (I was like, eh?! was expecting the worst) she came back and was like, okay that sounds good! We would like to have it done every 3 months.

Jaw on the floor.....wow. Best...customer...ever.

And there are 7 windows (that she didn't want quoted) that are gonna be replaced, and I have to requote it next spring.....

Sorry, bit exited here!

Edit : Come to think of it, it might be the right price, but still I mean, what on earth!! £70 pounds! Shocked still.  ;)

£25 for a conservatory?  Is't that a bit cheap??  I would have thought £30 to £50 depending on size and condition??

The last (and only) domestic job I had for £70, I got ripped off for the last payment.  I wrote a couple of times but figured they weren't worth it.
TRell you what though, I earned very well out of them while it lasted so still did much better than I would have on most jobs.

£70 for under 2.5 hours work is good mate.

Some people might think you were a bit cheap on the conservatory but if you can do the job in less than 2.5 hours who cares. As long as your happy with it.

Good luck with it.

Hm, yea I could, but I don't think they would be very happy about that! (very privacy minded people) I'll try hehe

Okay guys, thanks for the sound advice, seems that I'm spot on with my quotes then! (*phew) :)

I only asked for pic because i like you gave a high quote a while back cos i did not want the job , from memory it had at the back ... 4 sets of wooden french doors , above was 5 large wooden sash ,and above that was 3 small sash windows , around the front was 2 large sash , above was 3 large sash and above them was 3 small sash .

This was to be done every 3 months , they had not been done in over a year , they were manky !

I quoted £100 and she took my arm off !
The job took 2 hours , i felt bad about this so i did all the insides too , all in all it took 4 hours from arrival to departure , i even found the time to let their dog escape  ;D

The next time i go i reckon it will take 1.5 hours at most , but i will not be dropping the price , i might even do the insides each time just to take the job to 2.5 hours , thats still £40 an hour , nice  ;D

Next time i go i will take a pic for you
