if its a long pile get some nail scissers and cut it off or if its a short pile get a stanley knive blade and 'shave' it off.
then use wd40 for any remaining mark (spray it onto a cloth and dab it out)

Hi
WD40 will probably move the blu-tak...BUT don't allow it to penetrate through to the backing...it should also be thoroughly rinsed out after.

I always use a cellulose based solvent, comes out really easy, no rinsing.

I would assume that Becky is'nt a carpet cleaner, so how would you reccomend she rinses out the WD40?
plus do you think she knows what a cellulose based solvent is

Mike
Personally, I wouldn't use WD40 but one has to bare in mind (as Lee has) what is easily available to a member of the public.
'IF' I had to use a product such as WD40 then I would probably not spray it direct onto the blu-tak..
Rinse: I would use the wet and blot principle
Cheers

Derek,
I am like-minded on this subject, but for Beckys' benefit, it should be remembered that WD40 os a water repellant, so the wetting is best done with an alcohol such as methylated spirit, applied by cloth, then blotted dry.
