inside con roof
« on: October 24, 2006, 09:01:18 pm »
Hi,
Anyone got any tricks regarding the cleaning the inside of con clear glass roof.
These are 2 huge glass cons which are used as restaurants and they smoke, so a bit of a pain. There are in excess of 30 glass panels each.
I use a applicator and finish off with an old applicator with microfibre fastened to it, it looks ok but could be better.
The outsides are all done wfp so there is no problem there.
I have seen a flat scubber type thingey that fits on a pole but looked on the net and can't find it.
Any help would be great .
Cheers guys and gals. :) :)

Thanks for the reply ducky, should have said it was an applicator on a pole, so my neck is a bit stiff at the mo. Ladders are a no go with all the chairs and tabels, good access with the pole though.
Cheers

For nicotine use ammonia but dont get any in your eyes and the drips will cause a mess so use drop cloths

I dont touch inside conserv roof unless im getting serious £££££ for it.

Its a risky game and a long job, If the glass buts up to painted walls BE EXTREMLY CAREFULL ;)

I use a pole with angle bracket and squeegie. We use the squeegie that unger make which has a straight blade. I think it's called "swiv-loc". It's green plastic. If you use normal one you will get bounce as you finish your stroke. Only way to avoid the bounce is to put angle bracket at extreme angle then you bang it off the customers wall. Not good.

Best get the swiv-loc. It is a very handy tool.

Get a couple of blankets from the second ahnd shop. The thick wool type. I got a few for £1 each. We use them in winter to insulate our WFP system. But also ahndy to cover furniture.

Cover a section. DO a section. Move the blanket. Sorted!  ;)

Residential? Yes, always. Scrim doubled over on the end of the pole. We do go through quite a few though.

We also clean a lot of canopies on commercials. They are not so fussy and we don't usually detail tem.

Im sure I heard ionics were developing some kind of indoor atrium cleaner which I suppose you could use on Con roofs. I think its abit like a carpet cleaner but for windows.

I think it was Reuben telling at the show in March. Still sound like a load of hassle probably only any good on real big jobs.
