Shurflo versus Omnipole
« on: October 02, 2006, 11:28:01 pm »
Hi Guys,
Considering getting a backpack to dip my toes into WFP.Wanted to know your opinions on the Onmipole and Shurflo backpacks.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Water-Fed-Pole-window-cleaning-12-volt-80psi-Backpack_W0QQitemZ180032911264QQihZ008QQcategoryZ112579QQcmdZViewItem

I notice the omnipoles got 80psi as opposed to the Shurflos 40psi.Would this make much of a difference??

Any thoughts appreciated.

sounds good to me, 80psi now thats power, compared to whats already on offer by most companys, what?  i dont understand is why the offer is not put here first before it goes on ebay,  i thought this forum would be obveouse  before going on sale anywhere else, or do they have to pay to advertise here

Its one that Glyn has been keeping up his sleeve, its their own design and yes there is that powerful 80psi pump. Sounds the ideal compromise for a trolley/van mount as well. As to marketing, maybe ebay has the edge for newbies ?

The Omnipole looks a good deal, my Shurflo only has a 40 PSI. in truth this is perfectly adequate. I'm wondering about how long that battery will run an 80 PSI pump?Dai

I would go for the Shurflo back pack.  Its got the flow control and will do a good days work on a charge with no problems. It also has a Shurflo pump. Cleantech have an ad on Ebay now for them as well. It says starting bid £160.00 + about £9 postage.  I would think that what they will sell it to you for if you contact them.

First cleans you will probably use a refill per house on the back pack but as time goes on you will be able to cut that down say by 50%.

That RO sys has all the bits you need to get pure water and at the price looks not bad at all.

OK. Now backpack £200  RO/DI £92 with postage I think and an 18ft  pole say £100.00. You should be able to get up and running for around £400 ish.  Think of all those houses you are walking away from.  My advice again is IF you can get the money together do it.  You can ask questions for ever on here but until you take the plunge you wont benefit at all.

Yes the Shurflo is only 35 PSI but its fine for the job you need it to do and it will actually hold 18 ltrs.  I would be a bit concerned about the drain on the battery from an 85 PSI pump on a back pack.

I have had no problems with my shurflo backpack as such "it does the job"  but I do find backpacks a pain, I guess I'm not in the ideal situation for being wfp ie living in a maisonett carrying water downstairs, loading the car with my pole, backpack + 100ltrs of water. then of course making sure I have all my trad stuff too, Going to work is getting like hard work in itself for me, personally I'd rather have a trolly system that when it runs out I dont have to refill from a 25ltr barrel spilling some by the means of the  glug glug factor :D, those who do it know what I mean. I wouldnt be without the backpack but I would like other options, I havent tried the freedom trolly yet but will be investing in one soon along with a van setup, and maybe find somewhere with a drive  :)

I would not waste my money on a 75 gpd system and at £96. I would go for at the min a 100 GPD, preferably 200 GPD.

go have a look at http://www.freshwatersystems.co.uk/aquatic_ro_systems.htm

100 GPD at only £76 (delivery only £6) and a 200GPD at £124 (delivery included).

guys looked at the 2 back[acks on ebay one from omnipole and 1 from cleantech

does the 8-psi use more water than the 35psi

also omnipole postage is £38 and cleantech £8. === what a difference

does it have to go around the world first

suppliers  can get postage deals  with the post office for about £8 lwhy the big postage charges,

they have added the vat into the postage... without vat it would be ten pounds postage..

i enquired about battery life for the 80psi

they said its new design was all about more power and built to take less energy from the battery... truth or no truth?
i dont know.  its what the man said.
