Carpet problem
« on: September 25, 2006, 06:59:12 pm »
I cleaned a house and upholstery today. Dirty gits hadnt even vaccumed for months, but I suppose we all see it. We were left on our own to do the job, and finished before the owner got back, and left.

He called this evening and said that some stains/marks are now in a few places where they were not there before. I use a TM, and have been in the biz for about 18 months, so I hope that I know what I am doing!
Could this be staining brought from below, or an old stain that wasnt visable before that had been re activated because of the cleaning?
We did all the coorect procedures etc, vaccuming, pre spraying, cleaning etc etc.
Any advise welcome as im going back tomorrow.

Sometimes a mark that cannot be fully removed but only half comes out, can look worse than before once all background soil is removed........... best qualify these marks and that likelihood during survey/quote visit.
I never promise more than 80% removal overall and that is on survey sheet before i start, then when i exceed that, the customer is happy.

Ben,
What type of carpet was it? You have to be careful not to have any spills, drips or end of wand stroke over wetting, on those horrible Felt backed carpets if they are laid directly on Asphalt/Bitumen. So if it was this type of carpet, any over wetting as described, would result in Brown stainig wicking through to the surface. A swift clean with the hand tool usually sorts it out, with extra drying strokes.

I got the same problem with a light, beige carpet on which some drops of water from the pumps extensions were spelt. The customer said it's a patch on the carpet. I tryied to go over it with a Prochem machine and didn't sort out the stain so I thought it will maybe dry.

Any advice of how to remove that?
