Vikan or Ionics head which is best
« on: August 31, 2006, 07:57:17 am »
Just need to know which head is better, we are currenyly using ionic heads on all our poles but they seem to dis-figure after a few cleans. The vikan heads on the other hand seem to stay in shape.

Or is there a better one again please help.
CCWC..if we can't reach it no-one can.

Yes there is a better brush.

Its a salmon brush, Gaz sells them.

I use a vikan only on my mini pole, Due to its ability to slaughter any snail trails I come across.

Upstairs I normally use Gaz brushes, They do not have tethered ends like the vikan so you can rinse with the brush on the window.

I also have a facelift brush on my 38' pole which is a very good brush.

Hi Guys,

I have only used the Vikan brush so I cant comment on the ionics brush

although I have found that the Vikan can annoyingly leave red rubber marks on white uPVC frames, Im hoping this will stop when its worn in but apart from that its a great brush.

Regards

Alistair

You can always peel the red rubber off if you wish, however it does stop after a while.

Cheers Alex,

Yeah thats what I figured, although it did poop me up on my first day until I realised it rubs off with your thumb.

I have tried the 3 brushes mentioned + Brodex brush.

When new the Ionics wins hands down, however in my opinion they are not robust enough and soon need replacing.

I feel the Gaz and the Vikan have too hard a bristle with less give and is prone to flicking water to places you dont want it. Also there is very little capiliary action on the Gaz brush so you have to start the pane off with a lot of side to side movements to fully wet the window.

The vikan is not as stiff but you can still feel the resistance when you meet a transom bar and it will flick water instead of just gliding over as an Ionics would.

My Ionics are a bit battered at the moment and need replacing but i still use them as first choice above the others.

proberly the  best  brush in the  world Tucker ,but its on the pricey side, and havent thought of a way of incorparating on to another brush yet. Ionics ave not mastered the art of brushes  yet, mine looks like an affro after a few months, but until they go like that they are very good brushes.

our ionics brushes only last a couple weeks then they really look crappie its embracing for the customer to see them all curled and battered so trying to promote a professional image we now use the vikan which is 4 months old and still looks new.we take the red strip off and go 16inch upstairs 11 inch downs no complaints yet on the vikan but if anyone thinks or knows of anything better let me know???

My own Brush is 2 and a half years old now, used day in and day out...

I't the Salmon brush that Peter Fogwill supplies and it still looks mostly the same as when he supplied it to me.

Are these the same Salmon Brushes that you supply Gaz?

Cos mine certainly hasn't gone 'Afro'  :o And its had a hard life!!
