Did a job today 2 rooms and in 1 room a didn't notice that the carpet wasn't secured to the edge and it came off about 2 metres when cleaning

Any one know how I can fix it please?  Thank you

do ya mean the length of carpet that pulled in was two metres? because if its pulled into the room by two metres then how big is the room and boy have you got probs!!  what sort of carpet etc?

It was already off the wood strips but I didnt c it. Just need to pull it back on. Away from wall about an inch since ive cleaned it. Custy not impressed. Wont pay till ive sorted it out.

Any ideas how i can do this without paying a fitter? Thank you

First of all its obvious what you meant, 2 metre edge off gripper. You should always check all items you are going to work on. Clean a 3 peice with a rip down the back and you start cleaning and didn't see it, they'll have you for a new suite. 1-3K enough to put you out of business because your insurance won't pay it. When you make an insurance claim for a damaged item the first thing they want to see is your pre-clean survey with the customers signature.
You could probably put it back yourself but you'll need to buy a knee kicker.
Always good to have a professional carpet fitter to hand. He'll pull you out of the crap 9 times out of 10.
I don't know what you charge but far too many carpet cleaners have a job, not a business. Charge a proper business rate and you will have money enough not to worry about having to pay a carpet fitter.

you simply wont get it stretched back without a carpet stretcher no matter what rubber soles your wearing? is it a wilton? because bcf wiltons(mainly poor quality from belgium) are a pig to pull back onto grips! is it a solid floor? in other words are the grippers securely fitted? if not then its a trip to glue and pin gripper and another to stretch carpet back on! two minimum call outs from ya friendly fitter! hopefully you can get hold of a fitter that wants the job? a lot dont and price it up to lose the job. generally an inch aint so bad so might be worth investing in a stretcher and a can of spray glue and have a go yourself? sorry to sound doom and gloom but it isnt that bad. someone will take it on if you dont feel ya capable.

Give it a few days to slacken off.
It MIGHT go back easily then.
Carpet fitter should charge you £20 to £30.
Anything BUT a belgium wilton should go back.

chris r. if the carpet has pulled the grips up then a fitter will not attend for 20 to 30 if its a solid floor? chances are it is a wilton as there arent a lot that move these days apart from axminsters. speaking as a fitter too i get a lot of these calls to put right but price them out as you can become its mother.
