Spitfire Help
« on: August 09, 2006, 07:36:50 am »
Im having a bit of trouble with my Spitfire, it seems to be constantly dumping water to the waste tank, at first i thought it was my thermostat not working causing the water to contantly dump, bit ive had the machine running cold water, (cold at wand end) and still get the same problem, ive cleaned out the Oroface and the Y strainer but still to joy.  Its a real problem for me becuase the machine is now using a full 100 gallon tank on a 5 * 4 and a HSL whereas before we could comftably do a full house before with no problems.  any WW2 Veterans know anything about these machines? :).

Help!!!!

Not familiar with your m/c but had a similar problem with Prochem Blazer - heat exchanger bypass would gradually empty the water into the waste tank. Got round it in two ways: first disconnect the solenoid (the water then gets really hot!), then use a couple of bits of garden hose and divert the water back into the water tank via a hole in the filler cap. Solves the problem but you get a tank of very warm water towards the end, and the sides of the tank bow out etc. etc. Worth a try but be careful - and don't blame me if it falls to bits  ;D

Hi there
Have you checked the solenoid dump valve, it may be sticking in the open position  or has a bit of debis lodged inside.

regards Tony
