pollen/sap on high rise
« on: September 27, 2025, 09:47:15 pm »
I've just taken on a new account. Its appartment blocks. That type of work isn't new to me i do quite a few. I cleaned the exteriors a day before i went to do the balcony cleans, when i done the balcony cleans i was suprised at the amount of sap/pollen/bee poo whatever you wanna call it. And it doesn't come off even with hand tools. You'd clean the window then see whats left, then have to go over with your nail, scraper , micro fibre whatever to remove the marks. With that in mind i knew its impossible with a wfp to remove these marks from the higher windows. So, just suck it up thats as much as you can do?

Anyone else come across this and how have you addressed it , just accept the limitations or found a work around ?

Daz will be along soon to extol the values of piping hot 5* water.

Aye, get your water piping hot and washing the panel, move on and do the same with another panel. Then go back and scrub away because it will be nice and soft. If you run with cold then all you do is make it colder and it clings on for dear life.

This is when hot makes our work life a helia lot easier. 😉

I'm afraid cold water just doesn't do a good job on pollen/bee spot spattered glass. I have a few days worth of work that is a nightmare in the warmer months. Hot water helps but it still takes a few scrubs/soaks to get rid of it esp on frames.

Tree sap is big time over here, for obvious reasons.

I use sticky stuff remover from the local DIY store.

Interesting. Do you spray the stuff onto your brush or how do you apply it?  Thanks.

I always have some of this in the van but usually use it for sellotape marks on frames. I've never thought of using it directly on my brush for bee spots. Cheers Matt.

So far most of it has been on balcony dormer glass, of which there’s acres of, so I just spray it out the bottle. If it was high reach window I’d spray it to the brush.
