Id struggle to make it sound complicated ...       There is some trial and error involved at times though .
I just put blue acid dye ( mixed with hot water and a dash of acid )  in an empty cif bathroom spray bottle .    I just misted it on until it looked blended .
The House had four bedrooms in that 12 year old  (wool/nylon mix i think )   as a family of pet lovers the kids had the puppies etc in the bedrooms and each room have about six of those old marks .   The house is going to be rented now so if it couldnt ' remove ' the pet stains all the carpets were to be replaced .    So if i didnt have my dye , there would be no job there .  One carpet was the same but dark purple  ...   that was a lot trickier than the blue ...   i misted red followed by blue  , and got away with it .
I cleaned the carpets beforehand .

example of dye used ...

John what did you do with the cfr hand tool, after you had sprayed some of the dye on ?  was it just extraction of the excess dye or did you apply something ?

I just vacuumed the excess off because i knew it was fixed ok from the previous spots  .  But generally, you would extract after every application to check colour change .
Like this guy here  ,   extracting and reapplying  ,    it can be a minefield though  , if he tips his jug hes screwed also  ,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zq0eanSujsM        I perfer to have it in sprays mostly .   Also sometimes spots like fake tan would have to be bleached first .  Plenty of videos on youtube to get the basics , then practise on an old carpet or some rented places what might not matter .

The Dyes are powder when u buy them  ,  you'd mix as much as u need , the dilute solution lasts for ages as far as i can see , but there may be some dye fixing benefit to mixing it hot and applying hot  .

BTW .. the stuff the guy neutralises the chlorine bleach spot with in the video is this chemical ..
