Can you adjust a Flojet Pump
« on: January 08, 2007, 04:19:19 pm »
Can you adjust a flojet pump so that it cuts off earlier as one of mine seems to take a long time to cut off sometimes it a 60 psi flojet.
Or would the pressure switch be knackered.

Yes you can easily adjust the cut-off point of the pump.

If you remove the cover plate on the pressure switch you will see a cross-head screw between the 2 electrical connectors. To lower the cut-off pressure of the pump simply unscrew a little until you get the desired result.

Trial and error will give you the perfect set-up for your system. Plug in your hose reel and a pole set it to run and then adjust the screw so that the pump delivers a steady flow, then turn off/disconnect the pole and check that it turns off within 10secs. There is usually a sweet spot for each system.

The above is exactly what I do for my own system.

Thanks for that alex.
I thought you may be able to do.
I did look and seen that screw but did not know what it does.

Thanks again

Does that mean if you adjust the cut off switch you then get a slower flow rate?

My pump normally cuts out a couple of seconds after I switch off my pole valve. Its only when the battery as been used a while, about 6 hrs that the pumps just keep on pumping as they are struggling to get to the right pressure to cut themselves off. If I switch the battery over to a fully charged one the pumps go back to cutting off straight away.

This screw does not affect the flow rate it just deals with the pressure that it cuts off at.

The screw simply applies more or less pressure on a spring which is acting on the switch, slacken the screw = slackening the spring = lower cut off pressure.

With age sometimes the spring changes in its tension and a small adjustment can make all the difference.
