Some Cleaner's do have em
« on: June 19, 2006, 02:35:29 pm »
Just come back from visiting a custy who had said her carpet had started to ripple that was fitted (not by us) about 6 weeks ago. Second hand 100% nylon hessian backed with small pattern on underlay/grips.  Ummmm I said re-stretching it back on, looking at the pile which was 'fused' together and rough in places, what u been using to clean this with then?  Well she said the carpet cleaner came last week, in fact, hes due any moment to do the bedroom, and had spent quite a while cleaning it, Im happy with result but its gone like this. Knock on the door in comes carpet cleaner, sunglasses still on, string vest & beach shorts Hello Mrs McMilan come to clean your bedroom. ummmm i thought i wonder. Out he goes to get his machine and in comes a green/black numatic henry type thing. ummm i thought ive got to stay and watch this. As I pretended to be 'tidying up' the edges, off he goes full steam ahead. Wand in hand attacking the carpet backwards and forwards forcing & stabbing the wand  into the pile at an alarming pace. There was water everywhere. Looked like he was using some sort of bubble bath mixture as there was so much foam everywhere. Swish swash the little 'machine' had a job to keep up. I took the custy in the kitchen and told her what he should be doing, pre-spraying, agitation, treating stains & extraction using proper machinery, I added that I thought he was the cause of her rippling & carpet damage and asked her then how much he was charging. Wait for it, £290 for hallway 2.50 x 4m & bedroom 3.50 x 4m approx!

Umm unbelievably there are still people out there prepared to risk all by using inferior equipment and have no fundamental knowledge on what their doing. I know I wouln't do it I'd be too embarrassed to turn up to someones house with that gear. These types of characters give professional cleaners a bad name & image.

Some people!

PS She confronted him while I was there about hallway carpet and after I calmly explained what the likley cause was, he looked really p-----d off, but just said he'll "sort it". I hope he does "sort it" by replacing the carpet for her cos its not fair to be charging an OAP  these rates for inferior workmanship & causing permanant fibre damage to her carpet.

Now I've got that off my chest, Im gonna make a cuppa!     :)

If thats the kind of competition you've got and they are getting those kind of prices you should be able to clean up (pardon the pun)
