I don't feel a huge difference in weight between extreme and slx.The extreme is more rigid though so makes it easier to use when extended.I did buy an extreme for myself as my slx 27 was too heavy for day in day out, the wife has the extreme now and I have just split my pole down to an slx18. I'm happy with it.

I'm happy with it.I think 18 foot poles leave one more vulnerable to neck problems. I used one for a while and I had more acute problems than the usual. I think you’re better extending the pole further to stand further back. 22 for me suits. I absolutely hate getting the 30 out. Probably that’s where a xtreme would be handy, but too expensive.
I prefer the extreme range for lightness. The other day I cut down a carbon Facelift pole for domestic work and could notice the difference in rigidity compared to Gardiners, downside was the clamps, not so keen on the old Facelift clamps but the pole much stiffer, trade off.
