Is this risky?
« on: June 24, 2017, 12:54:14 pm »
Found this video of a company cleaning conny roofs and FSG cleaning with Pressure Washer.  I can imagine it being very quick at rinsing the dirt off on Gutters and Plastics, but i would be worried about the pressure whislt using it on conservatory roofs.  Can anybody vouch that cleaning this way is safe, and possible do's don'ts?  One thing that slows me right down doing conny roofs is the rinsing.  If i could use pressure washer safely i know it would be much faster.

Watch the video and let me know if you think this is safe or not, and if any of you already have done and clean this way.

I wouldnt recommend using a pressure washer on a conny roof for the risk of blowing the seals.
If wanting a quick rinse just use a garden hose, simples!! Then go over with pure

i would of cleaned the f/s/g first before cleaning the conny roof as he s making more work for himself(as he ll dirty the freshly cleaned roof).i wouldnt use a pressure washer myself as it makes such a mess but i suppose if your careful near the seals itd be ok.
price higher/work harder!

Just think of the problems the water ingress will cause when entering the roof space through the vents, will posibly cause damp and mold issues.

Give it a few hours after cleaning and l bet all the mucky water he's pushed into all the nooks and crannys will come running back out and look minging.

One of my customers asked me to do his fsg but i was stacked out , i said if he was that in a rush i would not be offended if he got others in to do it.
He did and they turned up with a pressure washer, 20 minutes into the job water began flooding into the 2 of the bedrooms via the ceiling lights , they had flodded the the roofspace , they were not insured so custie or his insurance must have footed the bill !

Hence probably a bad idea me thinks  :'(
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

Make your own mini pressure washer for rinsing..
https://youtu.be/aCVEY4el2zU

It rinses con roofs quickly and easily.

Iv got most con roofs down to 45 mins work now by simply following this procedure...

1. Soak roof using above tool with pure water.
2. Using Gardiner's backpack on a low setting and a flocked sill brush, apply your choice of chemical, gently agitating until the roof is all frothed up (no need to scrub, just a quick go over).
3. Leave for a few minutes.
4. With a dry brush start scrubbing, if the roof is starting to dry briefly switch water on just to moisten, then off again, continue scrubbing ( a uni valve or any water control method really helps ).
5. Swap your brush for the water sprayer and rinse, watch all the crap blast away.
6. Final check on the roof to make sure all clean. At this point you can just use your normal brush and pure to clean any missed spots. If any discolouring around the trim on the edge of the conservatory then a quick go over with a damp green scourer and unger rub out.
Job done.

This way is quick, uses very little water and does a great job.
