Citroen Berlingo fog lamps
« on: June 12, 2017, 07:52:37 pm »
Hi folks,

Can any of you guys please point me in the right direction as to why the rear fog lights aren't working on my 2005 Citroen Berlingo.

The warning light on the dashboard comes on, but both rear foglamps don't.

I've checked the bulbs and they are ok (swapped them over with reversing lamp bulbs).

My next step was to check the fuse. The owners handbook doesn't say there is a dedicated fuse, which is why I am now stumped!

Anyone able to advise please?

Thanks guys.

John.

Thank for your reply Gav.

I checked the owners handbook to find out where the fuse is: the book doesn't even mention a fuse for the rear fog lamps. It mentions one for the front fog lamps, but upon checking the fusebox there is no fuse or even a slot for it!

Do you know which fuse protects the rear fog lamps and where it is?

Sorry I sound so thick, but I am struggling here!

Thanks.

John.

If I remember I will look in son's owner's manual tomorrow. The van isn't here.

It could well be that the nearside fog lamp doesn't work anyway.  My son's van is an 02 and there is no wiring to the nearside fog lamp even although the lamp has a bulb in it. There is no wire in the wiring harness as I checked.

Now is the bad part. Behind the driver seat in the cargo area, there is a black removable panel that will prevent stuff from dropping down into the sills. Underneath that is a wiring harness socket and plug. There might be an issue there, but that is a last resort check. If your van has ply lining then it needs to be removed first.

This panel is held in place by some Torx screws, so you will need the right tool as well.

The main wiring harness runs down the driver's side. If you remove the kick panel (again the securing screws are Torx) you should be able to test current to the wire that supplies the fog lamp. (Wiring isn't colour coded, but rather numbered. So a 5220 coded wire could be purple on one side of the connector and white on the other side.)

I have one of these

Its great for find a live wire with damaging the outer insulation too much. It just leaves a tiny pin prick hole.
