Why not ??!
How do i know he was from Africa, cause we got talking whilst cleaning the house.
Would you of said a white chap from Poland?

Mate you need to get off your high horse.  My comments are not racist. Infact many of my dark skinned friends hate people saying coloured etc.
Nobody's calling you a racist. Just wanted to know why you highlighted his skin colour...?

All the awkward types on my round are white British.

North Walians, living in the South are my crosses to bear.

The question being asked implies that i shouldnt have mentioned the colour of his skin. Which also implies or suggests thatvi was wrong to do so because of politically correct behaviour, for want of a better explanation.

So you do understand that his skin colour was irrelevant.

Because im not racist in any way shape or form brother, then no. Its no different from me saying i had a big sandwich compared to having a sandwich.
If i said someone from england, what comes to your mind descriptively if not a white british person. But that could be further from the truth. Someones parents could be from overseas but themselves born in England hence being british. But typically speaking you would think of a white person, just because,,,,well just because! So when speaking descriptively of people not british one would naturally add something distinguishing. In this case i mentioned colour and from Africa.

So No, i dont find it offensive and no i dont find it was a pointless remark for me to make.
I do find however trying to highlight it as being such is pointless. As, if you read my other many waffling points/threads i highlight how people have/are culturally ignorant and on another i mentioned how a friend met racism when introducing his friend to replace him cleaning who happened to be Black english. But somehow my descriptive explanation wasnt brought into question.

So if you said "I spoke to an African guy today" What springs to mind? The fact you said a dark African is plain ignorance!! Do you not get it?

I used to clean the windows for a white foreign lady who moved in with her white English boyfriend. He was  an older gentleman.

I get asked to quote for windows.

Massive place on the Wentworth Estate. The house is a bit if a state. He spent about 10 minutes grilling me on who I was,  who he does and doesn't allow on his property, he's very particular who he has etc. I don't mind being asked questions but his attitude was one of contempt really.

I walk round, price windows first clean at £340 (hadn't been done in a year and were filthy) and gutters for £360.  Explain we do windows every 8 weeks and price will drop slightly after the first clean. He said he used to have someone do them off a ladder once a year, it used to take the chap 2 days. I said we may be able to do 12 weekly but as a company we are very particular who we work for, we don't take on just any old work.

He says he is retired so needs to watch his pennies. Asks if I will do it for £600. I said you've just knocked £100 off the price. We eventually agree on £650.

So after a few days I'm thinking I really don't want or need this job then I get a text from her saying 'Charles thinks your offer is a little high, he will do it for £600'.

One, it wasn't an offer, it was the price. Two, I haven't asked him to do anything. So I politely reply saying we are too busy to take on this job and that there's plenty of cheaper companies in the area who would do it for less as price seems to be the issue.

Sometimes you just know a job will be aggro, and something will always happen as you're trying to be too careful or you're too worried - that's when mistakes happen. Best just to walk away.

Hey Tom-01 thanks for your input and raising it a little higher with needing to be manly n swearing. However read it in context and refer to the thread i mentioned and it will become clear why i said Black english.

Tony, again its funny how its the whites who are trying to label this as ignorant etc.  A little secret mate, my brother in law is African and i bet my bottom dollar he wont be offended if i said dark African to describe him. So stop trying to make this into something its not!!
