Every year at this point I think about using one of the above mentioned software packages and I always come to the same conclusion---- that none of them offer anything more than Excell 2003.
I am a philistine when it comes to I.T. but even I have enabled Excell to do most of the stuff mentioned in the demo's of these products. It tells me at any given time what my balance sheet is, who owes what and it generates invoices and worksheets.
What I'm really looking for is a package that is a combination of "round Tracker" (or similar) and "quick Books", something that will link up with my bank account and automatically update customer records.
Do any of these software packages do this?

I'm pretty good with excel but I had no idea you could link it to GoCardless and take direct debit payments through it, link it to stripe and take card payments through it, use it to automatically generate and send text messages or send out bulk emails and/or invoices. Maybe I need to roll my version back to 2003...

Okay, first of all I have no desire to go cardless, the majority of my customers pay via BACS  and a few by Paypal. I don't need to send bulk emails.
However I am interested in "Stripe", I've no idea what it is, please explain??

https://stripe.com/gb

Someone phones, I search their customer number on Cleaner Planner click 'pay' and input their card details. Job done. My record for taking a card payment in 34 seconds from start to finish.

Yeah but they are still services offered by the software designers they go way beyond excel 2003, if you choose not to move forward, that's up to you.

Okay got that, but does the software then update all the rest of their records, eg the balance of their account or do you have to input that separately?

You only input the information. It updates your customer account and stripe takes the payment for you. 34 seconds. Done.

By the way, this feature is eclipsed by gocardless. Seriously.
