Godammit push fit taps

Has anyone found a way to bodge the pipe back in once those pesky teeth give up? Superglue? Silicone? anything?
I have a growing mountain of them, seems a waste.

Yes, I'm thinking of going down that route.  ;)

Does the red collar still spin round? I've tried gluing the hose into the collar for now.

No Dave - put some glue on the smooth stem part and it seals the lot into a solid lump - no spinning.

I've fixed 3 old ones and no leaks (annoyed about the other dozen thrown away in the past tho)

If you do buy new taps at some point get the barbs thingys! Not broken a tap in months since started using 'em.

The black ones are stronger though.

Those red 5mm barbed ones snap really easily.

Never snapped the 6mm black version. Red version I have snapped loads. So don't use them :)

put a bit of stiff pole hose into the tap then an 8mm to 8mm john guest fitting onto the pole hose then your stem to barb into the john guest fitting so all you ever need to replace is the bit of pole hose & occasionally the john guest fitting which are much cheaper than the taps

Dave, have you considered something like this ?
I used these on pole hose before fitting a univalve, they are so much lighter and cheaper than those metal taps.

No I haven't, the thing is, I've used taps for the last eight years or so and whilst the hose loop does my head in I like to be able to throttle the water back from full to a dribble if required. I'm not sure I'm the type of person for the Univalve thingy.
Maybe one day.

Have you tried fitting a tap at the top of the pole and just folding the hose at the base of the pole the rest of the time. This would get get rid of the dreaded 'loop' at your feet and still give you the option to control your flow from a tap. I use both a Univalve and a Gooseneck valve and still find it quicker at times to fold the hose.

Couldn't agree more dazmond.  Now I clean a front or back of  a house with only the pole in my hand. Flow is on and off quickly when I want. That's got to be easier and a time saver

I tape the taps to the bottom of the pole and break about one a year.

Don't fancy breaking a pole!
