POLE HOSE TAP
« on: November 27, 2016, 09:44:24 am »
HAS ANYONE fitted the plastic stopflow taps to there pole hose,     if so have you a link for them,
atm  i use gardiners taps on my hose, around £10 a piece,     there problem is the mesh teeth inside the tap body  breaks up after a while.     im looking for these plastic barbed taps to fit into the pole hose and then clip them onto hose.    no more pulling inside taps with hose.

something like this ?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6mm-Universal-Inline-On-Off-Fuel-Tap-Fits-1-4-Pipe-Hose-BRIGGS-QUALCAST-/331324684117?hash=item4d247d7755:g:SEkAAOSwQItUHsbz
heat up pole hose and will fit snugly on the barbs without the need for o clips, light as well.

these are great theres a vent in the switch which releases the water pressure when you turn it off ,  very good if you have univalves as well

Well yes, something very similar, the levers can be a little stiff to begin with but that's no bad thing. I use a  uni valve  and hoseless kit now though.

Hi Jonny, just add the red barbs to your existing pole taps (I've not broken a tap in 5 months since adding 'em).

Ripped the metal teeth out of one? Glue a barb in with Araldite

ive noticed people talking about hoseless kits,       how is this different from hose in pole,    surelly you dont hav the pole hose hanging about to get full of crap and dirt surelly.

I keep forgetting the size of gardiners pole hose,     this tap will go by mm being outr diameter.       Pushfit    may be more hardy.     ive ordered the one above at £3+
may also get one of these , handy as cheaper back up,

Barry      explain hoseless pole please.

Capnsparkle,     great brainwave,  why havent i thought about that,      ive got around 5,  all   toothless ;D ;D ;D :D ;)

Have tou a link for these barbs.        Im fed up of ordering  wrong size bits.       last mess up was for elbow fittings for my 10inch DI vessel,    3/8 screw end was too big,  need size smaller to screw into DI vessel so i can use it again.

cheers Capn

http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pump-hose/hose-fittings-adapters/flow-control-valves/push-fit-8mm-stem-to-5mm-barb.html

If you ring them up they will alter normal postage fee for such small items. They work well.

If you get the Exceed tubeless conversion with univalve it does away with the need for the tap in your hand. What you do is take top pole section out. Fix in the Exceed pole hose, univalve and rectus fitting in that section. When you put pole back together you have the rectus fitting just inside the base of the pole. The rest of the Exceed pole hose connects to your hose reel pipe with plastic barbed adapter which you permanently fix with 'o' clips with female rectus on the end and the Exceed cover for protecting the fitting.
So then you come to first job, unwind hose reel , connect hose to bottom of pole, extend, pull on hose for flow, pull again to turn off.  When job finished, back to van, disconnect, pole in van, reel in. Off you go.
BTW, on gardiner website it tells you how to make your own tubeless set-up using JG fitting and rectus fitting. Cheaper.  It's not everyone's cup of tea, but imo, I think it's the best and tidiest system I've used since I started wfp. Especially when used with the univalve.

i cant believe some of you guys are still using pole hose taps when there is much better ways of controlling your water flow these days.(uni-valve and gardiners aquatap).
price higher/work harder!

Univalve makes gardiners reinforced hose coil up with water pressure the tap i use releases that pressure n leaves the hose workable,  so best of both

Pinch/kink method still works for me. Mind I'm rather set in my ways as like to use the pole hose on the outside of a pole too. That give me more flexability to what I want to use a pole for without having to mess about buying and fitting so say hoseless pole kits and univales etc.
