Restaurant wooden floor
« on: November 07, 2016, 12:31:36 pm »
Hello all,

Next week we are doing a commercial kitchen clean. We do general cleaning and carpet cleaning too but the owner has asked us to have a go at cleaning the upper restaurant floor. It's old wooden boards very black aged. He is not bothered about appearance but they are very sticky and new tenants move in soon so he wants it better. We have a Viktor Wolf rotary machine which we can get a different brush for and our extraction machine etc. Just wondered if you had any tips on what could get it non sticky without affecting the aged look too much! I don't want to end up having to sand the floor etc.

Thank you
Hannan

Hi Hannan,

Use a wood specific cleaner and a red pad under your buffer, you can either use the red pads as the extraction method (which means quite a few red pads) or if you work on no more than 10 sq meters at a time you can use more liquid and extract with wet/dry vac or carpet cleaning machine. This will leave the floor dull but grippy, if they want a better appearance and if the lacquer is still intact (ie no bare wood) then you can use a wood specific acrylic seal to give it a lift. Use airmovers between the cleaning and sealing to get the floor dry as quick as possible, don't use the very wet method if there are big gaps between the boards
