Alex , your Aquatec inline strainer  1/2 inch & 3/8" ,      can i fit this onto my  garden hose 1/2"   which i use to transfer my pure water from water butt to tank in van,    some times get bits  of particles in water butt.      i need to add a strainer between hosepipe.   to lessen particles getting into my water tank.     do i order the 1/2" strainer and just fit   a cut section of the hosepipe into the jg fittings to each side of the strainer   to filter the particles before getting into the water tank in my van..

yes i do have one in van before my pump.

If using a submersible pump to transfer water then a simple diy  solution is to use a nylon sock filter tied over the inlet off the sub pump. The spinoff from doing this it will not matter if you decide to change the transfer hose diameter to make it a quick fill system as using 1/2 transfer hose is painfully slow.

Yep thats what I use 
Also drain a clean the tanks when needed helps too
