Hey.
I have had a Brodex systems for the last 6 years. When I initially used it, it only has a space for 1 prefilter. Either carbon or sediment. But had trouble with ro membranes not lasting. I went through 2 in 2 years at one stage. But then swapped over to the fibredine pre filters, changed when the water production starts to drop. It is recommended after so many 1000 litres but I don't measure, as I say, just look out for when the pure water drops which is about 5 months.
Since using the one fibredine the system works really well. Latest RO over two years old and running superb no sign of failing so the fibredine is doing its job protecting the ro from chlorine.
Fibredine are brilliant.
Cheers Chez
For future reference here's how it works, A carbon filter will protect the RO membrane from chlorine and sediment but will get blocked very quickly with sediment so if you want to get the best from your carbon filter you protect it with a sediment filter.
So the sediment protects the carbon and the carbon protects the RO, what make you use is up to the individual but they all
do the job equally as long as your buying them from a reputable seller.
Personally I find that the Fiberdyne filters work out expensive compared to other makes but in your case because of only one
space it would be the best option.
Never forget your protecting the money invested in the membrane so don't end up spending more than the price of a new
membrane to protect it, believe it or not there are people who do.
